WalnutLast year we had a late frost that killed all our walnut blossoms. This year we have a pretty decent-looking crop of nuts coming; I hope the squirrels don't get to them before we do. Thinking about stationing the dog in the walnut grove for a while to keep them away.
Uploaded on Jul 6, 2009 Apple treeLast year's late frost did in our apple crop too (I think). This year the tree is COVERED with apples. We weren't here the year before so we don't know how good the apples are, but I'm hoping for lots of pies and canned fruit from this tree this fall -- if the birds leave them alone long enough.
Uploaded on Jul 6, 2009 Concord grapesThese were here when we moved in (like the apple and walnut trees, of course). Last year we didn't do anything with them - this year I'm keeping an eye on them, thinking maybe we'll get a batch of jam out of the few vines we have.
