nice spot for people watching
possibly the busiest - and least prettiest - junction in glasgow city centre, and a very odd place to bring along your stool and have a nice sit down.

Yeah I've seen this guy before, great shot.
The sigma lens looks like a good purchase.

Cracking shot!! Passed this guy the other day and was wishing I had my camera with me! Steven P is pretty convinced he's a bus spotter + I'm inclined to agree! Apparently he's quite a regular fixture!

Priceless.

The picture looks almost like it is curving round - I take it that is the 'sigma lense', as pointed out by Paul - but what is the sigma lense? Tell me more

its a big W I D E A N G L E beauty!
because its so wide - there is something like 100 degrees of the circle from one side of the image to the other - you can take really good landscape photos or architectural photos. either that, or you can almost be standing on top of someone, and you'll be able to see their feet and head at the same time from really quite close up.
it does distort the image a bit, but this adds to the character i think - i'll bring it in and let you have a shot if you like.

I've never(until recently) seen the use for a wide angle lens. I'll definetly be saving up for this one though.

The Sigma 10-20mm is a righteous lens, not that I have one but I've done plenty of research. Canon does a 10-22mm but for $200 more.
Found on Explore, nice shot!

Shot looks really good as well :) think i'll hav to be investing in a lens like that as well soon.

jonathon - i've not seen him since i took this photo, i was beginning to think i'd imagined the whole experience.
btw - buy that lens, you know you want to.

NB: Bought that lens :-)
Great fun, I haven't had it off the body since I got it

I see him quite often outside a post office on the South side waiting for his Giro, sitting on that stool with a "No Frills" T-shirt on.

Did you know this pic was used in an article by www.gawker.com to illustrate a story about Americans being too fat to fit on buses?
uk.gawker.com/5783937/americas-expanding-girt h-threatens-...
I spotted it when the gawker story was mentioned in the Phillip De Franco show on youtube
