Lightning Strike
The leg of the famous Capitoline She-Wolf. According to Cicero, a famous bronze statue of a she-wolf was struck by lightning. This statue shows a repair mark that is sometimes believed to be from that lightning bolt.
(The statues of the twin boys were added in the Renaissance.) Would you like to comment?Sign up for a free account, or sign in (if you're already a member). |
