Ant Face by Mitch Lahey

Ant Face

Best Viewed Large on Black

A tiny ant very closeup at more detail then the human eye can see. Incredibly hard to capture because they do not stay still ever so I decided to make it get stuck in honey. The flash is from the top as it travels down a diffuser I made.

Somebody likes honey by Mitch Lahey

Somebody likes honey

Trapped some ants with honey today and got some beautiful photos. Also made a nice diffuser for my Speedlite which spreads the light a lot more evenly. This is the result with my 90mm lens before I reversed my others.

King Wasp by Mitch Lahey

King Wasp

Best Viewed Large on Black

Very close to having enough for my car so it looks like I might actually end up buying a mp-e 65mm or a proper flash (macro ring). Annoying part about my macros is the animal has a ugly white patch of light on their eye or reflective part of the body. This is another from the Wasp shoot I did a week or so ago. In the meantime I might make up a D.I.Y flash diffuser so I don't get that nasty reflection from my speedlite.

The big eyed fly by Mitch Lahey

The big eyed fly

Best to view this one in large so you can see the detail of the eye. These guys sit in the same spot every single morning outside on a branch in the garden. For some odd reason they prefer not to be photographed and move around the branch out of my sight when they see me. Luckily today one did not move and loved my flash.

Wasps really aren't that dangerous by Mitch Lahey

Wasps really aren't that dangerous

Slowly coming back into the macro scene. Today I stumbled upon a wasp nest hanging neatly from the roof outside. This is the result.
