Tungsten Stories (Fuji GX617)

Tungsten Stories (Fuji GX617)

Sometimes one just has to get out of the house and get outside -- such as in this case. Shooting nightscapes well past the time which the sun has set is always tricky and risky - not having those lovely twilight colours can flatten a scene, so I thought I would try some super long exposure film shots on all this Tungsten T64 film in my fridge :)

15 minutes of exposure to get this shot - the detail is amazing at full size!

The Fallback (Fuji GX617)

The Fallback (Fuji GX617)

When one doesn't know what to shoot in and around Brisbane, Shorncliffe is usually the answer, the fallback location that usually doesn't disappoint. Reasonably close proximity to the city means relatively short travel duration, which means getting up that little bit later (always welcome!) -- it does mean though that you end up with a plethora of sunrise shots from the same ol' location, and that can get a little old in itself sometimes :)

Better than nothing though, right? Another morning shooting film is a another morning with potential gallery shots - perhaps not quite in this case, but you've just got to keep at it :)

Godwin Beach Sunrise (Fuji GX617)

Godwin Beach Sunrise (Fuji GX617)

Low tide (probably even a little too low!) up at Godwin Beach, right near Bribie Island which is North of Brisbane. If anything it was a location reccie -- overall a good location however will require another visit when the tide isn't as low as it was - all that mud isn't the most attractive looking stuff! :)

Don't often shoot vertical panos - they're certainly a bit different!

Catherine Hill Bay Sunrise (Fuji GX617)

Catherine Hill Bay Sunrise (Fuji GX617)

It's been a while since my last upload, I know. New job alongside being very busy finalising our new website has meant very little time to relax and kick back...

This one is from a quickie roadtrip that Russ and I embarked on whilst evaluating potential printers and framers for our products. We'd made it to Swansea from Brisbane in a day, and even though we weren't planning to shoot on the trip, the cameras came along for the ride anyway. This is from the next morning from a sleepy little town called Catherine Hill Bay, which has heavy heritage as a coal mining town hence the jetty which was used to transport coal and load transport ships.

Bongaree

Bongaree

Bongaree, Bribie Island

One from the archives - 2006!
I've been going through all my photographs in preparation for the population and launch of our new website, AustralianLight (hint - check us out on facebook, link below, for updates and to know as soon as we launch - it's coming very soon!) - and this is one that has been reprocessed with current techniques to ensure the best possible prints!

Bongaree is located on the western side of Bribie Island, adjacent to the Pumicestone Passage, and approximately an hour's drive South of Brisbane. This shot was taken just moments after the sun had finally set, allowing me to reach an exposure time of 30 seconds, giving the water that lovely misty look. It also helped that it was a particularly calm day.
