Bridgers

Bridgers by mrbendy.
Ok, this is pretty darn cool for me. I submitted this photo to an amateur photo contest and won the grand prize! My wife and I get to go to Yellowstone next winter, stay overnight in the park, and get to go on one of those awesome snowcat bus thingys that takes us to old faithful!

I told my wife jokingly before we knew the results of the contest that if I won anything I'd get myself a D300, so... I think I'm going to have to really consider that a another prize for me!

Just seen this on Wil's Vox and wanted to stop by here and say that you deserve that Grand Prize for sure - this is one of the finest pieces of landscape photography I have seen in a long while. I try very hard to shoot landscapes, but I never seem to be able to make them interesting, but this is a really captivating shot - I am in awe :-)

Congrats man.

I found out about this image from a tweet your brother posted on Twitter. I am starting to get back into photography, and this image brings home the reason I enjoy it — in particular, black and white photography — so much.

Wow, this is an honor well-deserved. Congratulations.

How you managed to capture that much detail in the grass, the woodgrain and the mountains, all at once, I'll never understand. Technically and artfully lovely.

I found this after your brother posted it out on his blog, and wanted to write in and say that you deserve a D300 after this shot (from what little I've played with it -- it is an amazing body). If you don't mind telling, what lens did you use on this shot? I'm trying to get a feel for what various lenses can do, and this is a pretty good looking shot.

It's a pretty awesome picture, congratulations on the win. I have to start playing around with narrower apertures as well to get this sharp fore and background.

Congratulations on the win. This is definitely well deserved. I love the processing on the photo. There is such an interesting tonal range, yet a very narrow tonal range.
