Nope. This map only shows the trend toward democratic leadership, not popular vote. For instance, in 2004 if a county voted 100% Bush it would be red, however in 2008 if 50% voted Obama - purple, or 25% McCain, light blue, 100% Obama, dark blue.

On second thought, yeah, it's kind of a "popular vote." But not in the way we normally think.

The map shows a definite trend toward blue, even if electorally the county elected McCain.

I hope I'm not confusing you??
