Thinking back to two years ago when I read blogs by runners I thought people were fricking nutso for running these long races. How does anyone run six miles, ten miles, thirteen miles...
I thought they were certifiable for doing them all the time, without blinking an eye. How could the human body possibly do that?
But I just got out and ran 10 miles on Sunday, no problem. I ran a consistent 9:00 mile the entire time. I run three to four times a week, logging totals of double digit miles. Because of this I ran 525 miles in 2011. FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE.
There was a time not too long ago when I was defeated by negative self talk, by the consuming discouragement. I did not believe my body to be my friend. Two years later I've built up strength and endurance. I can apply that over more and more miles every time I get out there. So a Half Marathon is a complete possibility for me to do on a regular basis.
And the Marathon? It's a Life List Item. It's a 2012 Short Term Goal Item.
Bring It.
