Postcard from Charles William Tanzer to his mother from hospital in England, 1917
Margaret Tanzer brought in this postcard to our Scan-a-thon. Her uncle Charles William Tanzer (service record), standing here in the centre of the group, was with a Tunnelling Company when wounded and sent to hospital in England.
Margaret wonders if the other men can be identified. Their families may not know of this photograph.

Dear Mother,
What do you think of this. It was taken in the Vicarage Gardens at Herne. You can see that I look well. The other two chaps who are standing came off lucky. The chap in the chair with an Australian hat on has my hat. Both legs off but he is one of the brightest boys in hospital.
Your loving son
Will
