You're far too kind, Bernie! This one did turn out pretty nice, I have to agree. Sometimes we get lucky. And when there are so many people in the streets, the probability becomes higher for getting lucky. :-)

very nice!
i'm impressed that tri-x can be pushed to 1600 with such good results. It doesn't look to grainy. Can I ask what your developer you use? I myself use d-76 but hope to use rodinal soon.

- Thank you for your comment and stopping by. TriX is very nice pushed, especially when using Diafine, which is what I used here. Rodinal works nicely pushed as well, which you can see in later photos I have from the street party. I've never tried D76 and I'm not sure I intend to. The shelf life is not as good as I'd like it to be. This is why I use Diafine and Rodinal (well, there are developing reasons, too, but shelf life is one reason). I strongly recommend Rodinal if you like grain and contrast. However, I don't get as much grain as I'd expect, even when using it at 1:25 (I have some of those examples, too). Maybe it's just me and you'll think it's grainy. Thanks for stopping by! :-)

Thanks for the details!
D-76 does indeed have a short shelf-life. The concentrated developers do seem the way to go expense wise, but D-76 isn't all that expensive.

Tell me something, what's the advantage or disadvantage of higher dilutions of developers (1:25 vs 1:50 or higher) such as rodinal besides monetary?

Thanks!

- The issue really isn't monetary at all; Rodinal is really very cheap. It really all depends on what you like in your photographs. If you like a lot of contrast and especially grain, go with a concentration like 1:25 or 1:10 even! Something like 1:75 and 1:100 you start getting very fine grain and the tonal range just doesn't do it for me (please note that it just doesn't do it *for me*; there are many great photos that are developed at 1:75 and 1:100). Rodinal is great for experimenting and seeing what fits your taste. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff. :-)

Really great shot. Using D-76 myself. May have to try Diafine though -- about to shoot a bunch of Tri-X at night in NYC that I am going to push to 1600.
