Purvis Family PortraitMy Great-Grandmother. Sarah Ann Purvis (Born 1878) Meet her husband... I notice she has a wedding ring. My Great-Great-Grandfather, Lambton Purvis. My Great-Great-Grandmother, Jane Purvis. (born 1854) I think this is William Lambton Purvis. Born 1880, died 1904 in a pit accident.
These are my Great-Great-Grandparents and their 12 children, including my Great-Grandmother. Not sure when it was taken, but most likely around the turn of the century.

Despite appearances, they weren't wealthy. Most of the lads worked down Houghton pit. OK, today I found this on the Durham Mining Museum site. It's the records of the death of William Lambton Purvis, who is one of the lads on the back row. It also mentions my Great-Great Grandfather and Great-Great Mother (also buried in the same grave as her son). Given the ages, I think it puts this photo somewhere around the late 1800's! The name Lambton still lives on in the family - through my Uncle Ian Lambton Moran. CommentsDelfina Purvis de Sá says:Hello, I am Delfina [Purvis] de Sá from
