The dining set found and purchased at a local thrift store for $29.00, today March 22, 2008. I about fainted.
1960's Danish Modern teak dining set by Hans Olsen for Frem Rojle, Denmark. Black leather seats, chairs fit into slots in the table to make a perfect round when not in use. Two matching insert panels to lengthen table are hidden underneath. Has burn and sanding damage to the top and will need new layer of veneer.

You are a lucky thing. I collect furniture.
This is a deal and a half enjoy.
If it was mine I would probably draw on it,
I cant resist.

Thanks boredmonkeylove and Miss Retro Modern.
boredmonkeylove: Thanks. I collect
furniture, too. I used to draw and paint on
things I dragged home, but then I started
collecting MCM, especially Danish Modern.
However, I'm thinking about painting one side
of the dinette area in chalkboard paint so I
can draw on the walls.
Miss Retro Modern: We ate at the new (for
us) table for Easter dinner today, just Mr.
Sox and me. Yesterday, he was not too excited
about me dragging home another
table...another piece of furniture, even if
it was only thirty bucks. He warmed up a
little when I Googled and showed him what the
value of it is. Our previous table was a sad
case, and literally lame with the legs
falling out by the screws in the particle
board tabletop.

What a fantastic score! That's exactly what
I've been looking for, too -- so hard to
find, and yours is beautiful. And the price
is more than right.
Hooray, monkeysox! The Easter Bunny was
good to you!!! ;)

Thank you logan_woolf -- it was 4 chairs and
the table - a complete dining set. It was a
wonderful find, and just the right size for
my dinette area, where chairs get in the way
of traffic flow.

Nice find! It takes a while to find, but good
stuff is still out there! I found this dining
set and buffet by Brown Saltman for less than
$190:
I about died when I saw 1stdibs' page for
this buffet.

Green Hocker, you are so right. That is one
fabulous dining set...and the buffet too!
Awesome. The 1stdibs prices always makes me
wet my pants and my jaw drops at the same
time :^D I wonder who pays those prices?

I don't even think the super wealthy pay the
prices 1stdibs sellers ask. Someone's asking
$3,800 for a Conant Ball sideboard. I mean,
it's a nice sideboard and all, but its Conant
Ball not Herman Miller!
But I know what you mean about those
prices. I totally freaked out when I saw the
price they were asking for my buffet
("I'm rich!")

I think the 1stdibs site serves to drive up
prices for the market, basically. Which is
good for the vendor's businesses. High end
interior designers might purchase from
1stdibs, and someone who collects and wants a
hard-to-find item for his/her decor. Some of
the pieces seem to be in extremely good
condition, un-restored near mint, not needing
repair, which will make a great deal of
difference to serious investor-collectors.
