My wife and I met in college, so this actually makes sense to put on the tree. I tired and tried, but this was the best picture I could get... stupid refelctions...

Get some pieces of white tag board
or if you prefer black velour
and hang them in front of the ornament
put the lens between the two
and if you hang them close enough
to each other, overlapping in the center
you should get an even reflection
in the ball with one dark(er) spot - the lens
Ross Lowell of Lowell Lights
fame use to have a semi-decent
intro book on this sort of thing

That is a good idea! Thanks!
The main window in the room is the reflection here. I tried pulling the curtains, but that just gave it a larger, diffuse reflection. I tired with the flash and that was a nightmare. I don't shoot enough marco (my camera isn't that good) stuff to usually have to worry about it, but this one was a monster.
