this man dressed up as a fag butt and his friend down the road wearing an outsize cigarette packet aren't actually campaigning against smoking - just encouraging people not to drop their fag ends on the floor. i'm glad this was not one of the ways I had to make money last year. Taken summer 2008

HOT-NUTS

the shop on the corner of shacklewell lane and stoke newington road seems to be a bit cursed. each attempt at opening a business there seems to last 6 months or so. you see the staff wandering around disconsolately inside with nothing much to do, then they up sticks and leave. hot nuts opened in 2008 with great chutzpah - this huge metal sign appeared on the wall next to it and we were proud to give directions to our house that featured the line 'turn right after the huge hot nuts sign'. sadly it went the way of the hairdresser, beauty salon and photocopying shop that preceded it.
