Three hundred and sixty-five more days. I am pretty sure that I've lost my mind, but I'm o.k. with that.

For 2010 though, I'm taking a different approach. When I was 15 I started my first journal when my parents, younger brother and I were on vacation in Wisconsin. I was bored and needed something occupy myself, so on a trip a discount bookstore I bought my first journal and haven't looked back since.

About halfway through my project last year, I began to wish that rather than just a picture a day, I would have used my project as a photo journal. I began to wish that while some of my photographs were accompanied by song lyrics, quotes and the occasional ramble that I would have started with that at day 1. Even though you could see my growth as a photographer, the real gain, my growth as a person was all behind the scenes, even to those I saw on a regular basis. So, for 2010, I am doing what I wish I would have done in 2009. My project will be my journal. It will be a record of me through pictures and words.

This, of all the projects I've ever take on is sure to be one of the most difficult because it will (hopefully) be the most honest. And while I would hope to think I would be able to find the words to express my thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams on a daily basis, I know it's not going to happen. These will be the days when I rely on a song or a quote or a poem or someone elses words to speak for me because sometimes someone else can just say it better.

Two projects. One finish line. It's going to be an interesting year.

So right. This is the start of what I am is sure to be the most annoying, aggravating, meaningful project I've done. Why I've decided to do 2 projects concurrently, I do not know, but here we go!

I have literally been racking my brain all day, trying to figure out what my final shot for 2009 should be. I keep feeling like it needed to be epic, something totally out there and absolutely fantastic, but nothing was coming to me. I was trying too hard and I knew it.

After work, while waiting for Sadie to finish romping around in the snow, I decided that it's o.k. that my best shot wasn't taken on the last day of this project. It is o.k. that I've had already taken shots that I am seriously proud of and I am sure there will be more to come. This year was only the beginning of what I know to be a passion that is going to last me a lifetime.

I am looking forward to the upcoming year, especially my new 365 project! I'm excited to continue on the journey I started a year ago and can't wait to find out all the places it will take me and all the new people I will meet along the way.

I've finally made peace with 2009. Let go of the distractions & given myself the gift of closure...bring it, 2010!

I can't put my finger on why exactly, but I've had this song stuck in my head all week. It's quite peculiar. ; )

So just one more day and I've not a clue what I want to do. I was thinking I should do something flashy and have someone push me down one of the ski hills at work while holding a sparkler, but the last time I went skiing the end result wasn't all that desirable. I don't know yet....I have a while to figure it all out, but don't hold your breath on the skiing with a sparkler. That is definitely out.

This is a really not so fantastic shot I took on my way home tonight, but I thought it was a fitting image for the end of the year. So many times in life it really comes down to choices and regardless of how much we don't want to choose or how painful making one choice over another can be, we must do it and hope for the best.
