forced air woodgas prototype

forced air woodgas prototype by mmeiser2.
This is a protype of my forced air wood gas stove. The fan shroud is mad out of cardboard and the beer can used is a Fosters "oil can".

In the final version the outer can is a Heineken can which holds up much better to the heat. And the fan shroud looks exactly the same but is made out of aluminum flashing.

The fan used is a 12 volt computer CPU fan running on only 6-volts. I've also tried 9-volts, but it may be a little much.

All in all it worked superbly...

The Heet is just to get it started, I presume?

yes, quick start as it were. Really not necissary with the forced air. Any old spark will rapidly turn into a flame.

Okay that's it. I've just finished the Foster's and now it's Monkey See, Monkey Do. You'll just have to assume that imitation is the highest form of flattery. I'll post pics.

i recommend putting a lot more holes in the inner can than he had.

There is a tendency for them to clog when throwing in new sticks. The tiny little computer fan does well to keep them open but it doesn't hurt to have a few more holes.

Excellent, very helpful, thanks. Just found the right size inner can. Might give this a try this week...

FYI, the quick way to make the inner burn camber holes is with a can opener. around the top and bottom rings. In many ways it's actually cleaner then a drill, which mangles the can.
