bizarre love triangle

bizarre love triangle

The travelling rabbit mask gave me an excuse to summon the spirit of the hickster, who now guards over Ginger from the great beyond.

For the title, I am, of course, indebted to New Order.

Divine Diptych - Round 21 - salt water

Divine Diptych - Round 21 - salt water

Theme: "The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears, or the sea." ~ Isak Dinesen

Obviously, we focused on the "sea" aspect of the quote. Merle's image is the star here, and mine a supporting player. I flipped and rotated her image, and altered my image to be more compatible in terms of colour. I like how they fit together to create the illusion that Merle is a beautiful sea creature just below the surface.

Divine Diptych - Round 20 - Dreams

Divine Diptych - Round 20 - Dreams

Left image: Geekgirly
Right: me

I've wanted to use the image on the right for a few years now, but I've never quite known what to do with it. The original is a zoomed out reflection of myself in a ferry window, with a mountain range in the background (you can see part of the mountain range in the top right corner--what looks like a hat is actually the sky). I thought the image could work for the "Dreams" project, but when I paired it with Sarah's, the literalness of both images didn't quite work--especially because Sarah's image was far more dynamic tonally. So I decided to take mine into more of a fantasy realm, befitting of the theme. (I'll post a separate entry of the before and after, in case anyone is interested.)

Divine Diptych Week 17 - alone/solo

Divine Diptych Week 17 - alone/solo

Left: me
Right: an SP from the fabulous sadandbeautiful (Sarah)

On its own, my hummingbird photo isn't necessarily the most apt for the theme of "aloneness," but I loved the visual illusion created when I paired it with Sarah's image. In fact, I think I went "Ooh!" when I first tried these together. All I had to do then was convert my image to black and white, and try to match Sarah's levels and underlying colour tone. I think the blending of the two images makes it look as though Sarah is being cradled... in a well-furnished treehouse or maybe a small spacecraft with a sunroof.
