Chai Spiced Sugar Cookies

I love tea, but I really only drink it in the winter when the temperature starts to drop. A few years ago I discovered Chai tea and now it's my favorite. So when I came across this recipe for Chai spiced sugar cookies I knew I just had to give them a try.

Applesauce Bars

Applesauce Bars
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ginger
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cloves
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup applesauce

Frosting:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons margarine, melted
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 13x9-inch baking pan.

In a small bowl combine the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. Set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar and egg until smooth. Stir in applesauce. Gradually add flour mixture until well blended. Spread batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.

Bake for 25 minutes or until edges are golden. Remove pan to a wire rack to cool.

For the frosting: In a small bowl mix together the butter and powdered sugar. Stir in the milk and vanilla until smooth. Spread over cooled bars.
