General Electric
The (relatively) famous sign and logo atop the main building at the shrinking complex for General Electric Power Systems in Schenectady, New York. The sign is made up of thousands of light bulbs. The sign blinks, or flashes, slowly and this behavior is driven by variable reluctance transformers.
It could be said that Schenectady has a "Love-Hate" relationship with the multinational corporation and the heads of its Power Systems division (and nearby R&D group in Niskayuna) with regards to issues of economics (employment, labor relations, taxes) and the environment (pollution).
