if six was nine

if six was nine by Misteriddles.
Nine barbed wire kisses guard petroleum tank number six at a Brisbane oil refinery.

Just after I took this a rather laconic old Aussie security guard shuffled over to me to ask why I was taking pics. "We're a bit touchy about people outside taking pictures. Terrorism, you see?" I don't think he appreciated 'art' is not always 'pretty'. If I don't already have an ASIO file, I'm sure I've got one now! ;)

When I took this shot, people also went past questioning why anyone was paying attention to a bridge. I suppose art was always been political, but I object to being considered 'unusual' or a threat... more than usual, that is ;)

Come in number six - your time is up!! A scene from The Prisoner (ah but then you would be too young to remember...................)

Yer, like a camera poses any kind of threat - if you were standing out there with an old alarm clock and kabana strapped to your person, then i'd understand. Just remember to take some cheese and biscuits with you ;-)

Good eye on this one, Iain. I like the blur, giving the composition an indefinite mood...and like the strong light on the wire.

I remember recently a photographer getting a visit from the police after taking pics at the shell Refinery at Geelong. Apparently they took his number plate and tracked him down :)

Thanks all. I thought this one might get ignored. I'm glad I was wrong. As one who lives and works close enough to the refineries to be blown to queendom-come should they ignite, I did not really mind the 'interrogation' all that much.

@Lorri: I bought the deluxe 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' DVD today, so my Williamsathon continues ... :)
@RaeA: Oh joy! I'd better hide my Che Guevara tea-towel cos I just know the concept of communist kitsch will be beyond them.
@Magoo: LOL. Mmmm, tasty terrorist antipasti!
@bigbird: As a confirmed retromaniac I have seen many episodes of The Prisoner. I came for the furniture (particularly Number Two's groovy Ball Chair) but stayed for the existentialism. A highly recommended series indeed.

Yeah . . . what the shit is that about? A friend of mine owns a company that does demolition from time to time on whatever - we took a tour of an abandoned refinery. It was beautiful . . . unfortunately I was only allowed to take pictures on the outside.

Anyway - neat picture.
