World's Largest Olive?

World's Largest Olive? by Matt (mistergoleta).
A giant black olive that used to be in front of the Lindsay Olive Company plant. Check your cupboards at home, you may have a can of Lindsay brand olives on the shelf. Today, this olive is next to the parking lot at the Super 8 Motel.

There used to be a cafe next to the parking lot, too - is it still there? They were really nice to me when I got stuck in the olive - gave me a slice of pie for providing entertainment...

worldslargestthings: I was wondering if anybody would ever try to climb inside the olive pit. I guess you answered my question! Are you serious? You really got stuck? I don't think there's a cafe next to the olive.

Yes, there was a restaurant there called "The Olive Tree" (if memory serves me). Now it is named something else (Country Waffle??)

April in Porterville (which is just an olive's throw from Lindsay)

April: I just searched the online yellow pages and you are correct! Country Waffles is at 380 Hwy 65 and the Super 8 Motel is at 390 Hwy 65 so they would be next door to each other. I guess I just didn't remember.

yes, I really did get stuck, albeit only briefly... That was before the proliferation of camera phones (THANK GOODNESS), and I got my shoulder and arms wedged - I can't imagine how, now - I think I decided mid-olive to put my arms over my head or something equally impossible....

It makes a great anecdote when I do World's Largest Things lectures!
