Bah by Miss Leonie

Bah

I went for a walk with my mum earlier this afternoon. After reviewing the options, we decided to visit a massive petting zoo/forest we used to frequent when I was a kid. All the animals were in their no-people shelters, but they let the goats out eventually, so I got to hug a goat for a bit. Aw. He was so friendly and cuddly. A complete sucker for a scratch behind the horns, too.

Dutch Cows, Aussie Outback by Miss Leonie

Dutch Cows, Aussie Outback

This is a photo I snapped after a rainstorm of epic proportions (hence the hazy background), in the Western Australia countryland. I was mustly struck by what appear to be Dutch Belted cows in this scenery.

This was the very first afternoon of the Nullarbor Traveller tour - we stayed the night on mattresses in the dining room of lovely Mary Richardson's straw bale house (in Fitzgerald River National Park). Camping in tents near the river, as planned, wasn't an option given the weather. I didn't mind - the view from the house was unbelievable (even if the loo did appear to be suspended over a whole lotta nothing).

We ate spaghetti with bush herbs for dinner (it was delightful), and I spent the night appeasing her deaf, affectionate cat so the rest of the group could sleep (she'd meeeeooooooooow complainingly at all these people in her dining room).

Victoria State Library by Miss Leonie

Victoria State Library

This is the entrance to the Victoria State Library in Melbourne, Australia. I spent quite a bit of time in this building because 1) hello, it's a library and a gorgeous one at that, and 2) free Internet. Oh, and 3) air conditioning. Because as much as this was late autumn, Melbourne was HOT.

I also spent quite a bit of time on the lawn in front of this building, but that's a story for another time.

This would be a statue of Joan of Arc. I have no idea why she is in front of the Victoria State Library, but there you go.

I think Melbourne's got to be one of my favourite places in the world, hands down (and that's saying something for a former Sydneysider).
