Harry the Hedgehog

He's a bashful kind of fella.

Don't you just want to tickle that fuzzy belly?

Harry the Hedgehog by Miss Leonie

Harry the Hedgehog

We found this little guy sitting in the middle of the road during one of our random scenic drives in the neighbourhood.

I ended up picking him up to put him in an environment that would be less deadly to him. He didn't seem to mind much as he didn't even roll up. I also removed his fashion accessoiry, the stray blade of grass. I hope he doesn't mind.

That little wrinkly nose! Those feet with the little toes! I'm melting with hedgehog cuteness.

Heaps Beeched by Miss Leonie

Heaps Beeched

I stepped outside to have a bit of fun with manual mode. I read an article on The Pioneer Woman, and suddenly a few things clicked into place. I realised that manual mode is in fact very easy. It does what I normally do through such things as forcing my exposure meter a few ticks below 0 when I'm shooting in apareture or shutter mode. D'oh. The penny's dropped, and my life just got a little easier. I present to you: my first shot in manual mode, taken about five steps from my front door. I love the autumny atmosphere.

PS. The title is a play on Beached Whale (which I find highly amusing).

Fowler's Bay by Miss Leonie

Fowler's Bay

This was a few days into the trip Perth-Adelaide trip, the little town of Fowler's Bay (population at the time of the 2006 census: 125) in South Australia. We'd driven on the Nullarbor for aaaages, and we'd had some pretty bad weather, but our afternoon in Fowler's Bay was perfect.

There was sandboarding (get a wooden bodyboard, rub a candle on the underside, find yourself a sand dune and skid on down!), sunshine, the ocean (oooh!) and an amazing view from up on the dunes. I absolutely loved it.
