Look at those feet! Amazing bird....small in stature, about 1.5 feet in height. Fast to strike but slow in getting there. We were at the beautiful Quail Gardens in Encinitas, California over the holidays and found this beauty near the Lotus Pond where there were lots of turtles and frogs. Gosh it was 70 degrees, balmy...sunny....nothing near where we come from! :)

Visiting this winter in San Diego has been gloriously sunny and a real reprieve from our dark and wet winter in Washington State. This Green Heron was sunning himself as I was able to get up fairly close! ;)

Just look at these beautiful wings....amazing what Mother Nature creates! First she creates these beautiful animals and then they become works of art just by their own Nature of Being!
