The mystery of the Vampire Rabbit

The mystery of the Vampire Rabbit by minxlj.
The infamous and mysterious 'Vampire Rabbit' of Newcastle!

Over a grand and gaudy pink rococo-style doorway in the grounds of St Nicholas Cathedral presides this scary and intriguing statue that no-one knows the origins of - it's said that it may have been a symbol, or merely an architectural joke by the builder.

It's actually the back door of 27 Dean Street - a grand building designed by Oliver, Leeson and Wood in 1901.

I've always had quite a fondness for the Vampire Rabbit....Nicely shot! Do they have reproductions of him for sale? If not, they should!
