NCCTK Site

too light
too small. too bland. IMO
this part is really strong
too much copy here. try to think about how much text your viewer would want to read. the trick is getting them too your church.not to read copy.
i think making these columns match in width would be good.
NCCTK Site by thePLOWblog.
Here is a site design for a church. They wanted a conservative design, but I wanted to keep it modern. Lots of info to fit on the homepage, trying to grid it out so it does not feel overwhelming. Let me know what you think, I am sending over at the end of the day.

having the sermon and the sermon archives split seems weird. i'd try to include the word archive somewhere in the header of your list and reclaim the space where your artwork is.

Yeah, I could just take out that button and add "Small Groups" or something. Thanks!

Yeah... the amount of info on this page definitely intimidates me.... it's nice, but way too much info. if you could convince them to cut it in half or even 60% that would be better, IMO.

So you want to maximize what the viewer sees on the main page. Your page is 1022 wide. Does that give enough room for the scroll bar and the browser?

check out the templates here: 960.gs/

When i started building mock ups with them the whole design got stronger.

You also might have a bit too much height for a home page.

how does what's new differ from upcoming events?

sorry. I've got a ton of ideas and i'm not organizing them very well.

No problem. The content area is 950px, I am pretty sure that is safe. I am hoping that they will cut the info at the bottom, but that is up to them. The only plus is, that is won't really be seen unless you scroll down, you will really only see the top 1/3. News will be bigger church news, maybe missions and so on, upcoming event will just be events that are going on. I agree that it is lots of info, i will need to talk to them about it.

I fixed the text field in the email box, good call. And I also shortened up the bottom to only have one news article. I agree that that part should not be too long, better to limit to one. I also darkened up the grey some up top.

check out the web design in my photo stream. www.flickr.com/photos/8242463@N07/2883377132/

I've conceptualized an events tab that would use AJAX and keep the front page loaded with more relevant events info dependent on the user's choice.

Yeah, that might be cool for the bottom part. I will talk to the programmer about that.
