At Marmari there were a few wind generators. Unfortunately I had no time to go closer although wanted it so much. Listening to the noise of their wings when they rotate and seeing the height of their tower make me feel dread!

Currently there are plans to turn the Isle of Lewis into Europe's largest wind farm. Many locals have protested for a variety of reasons (noise, bird deaths, not much money going to the local communities etc.) but I have a feeling it will still go ahead.

Once the hundreds of turbines are erected they will be seen from all over the island. I wonder if it will affect tourism or if tourists will come to see them.

Myself, I don't think wind power is the answer to our energy-making and am in two minds as to whether lots of turbines enhance or ruin a landscape.

Once upon a time I studied wind generators and made a project for a wind farm. It's a very complicated study indeed, not from the technical point of view, but considering conservetion and archaeological places. The law at these points must be very strict and people that set law must be conscientious.

Renewable energy have to be environment-friendly and not angainst environment and culture. But unfortunately "good" technology can become "bad" when it's filtered by abnormal minds that only think profits. $:o(

I wish the best for the Isle of Lewis.
