The Akron Plan

These are shots of the Central Westside United Church of Canada in Owen Sound, Ontario.

The church is a marvelous example of the "Akron plan," with the Sunday School meeeting space available behind a movable wall. Sadly the trompe l'oueil finishing has been painted over, but it's a beautiful building nonetheless.

When one sits in the balcony one feels as if the preacher is directly in front of you. Seats a lot but very intimate at the same time. A great hall for the preaching of the gospel.
