We walked all around Park Slope looking at some open houses today, and I'm totally beat. We didn't find anything but it was great weather to be out. Hard to believe it's mid-November, and it was in the 60's.

I spotted this sidewalk that looked as though it hadn't been cleared in a week around Windsor Terrace. Perfect for leaf kicking, à la Julie, Jason, Lauren, Stephanie, Nova, Specs and JulieFrick. Glad I got in another fall shot before it's all gone.

Shrimp & Grits

We are on a neverending quest for the perfect shrimp and grits around here. Recently my sister went to Charleston and brought us back a bag of local stone-ground white grits, so we decided to try a new grits recipe from Clark Wolf's "American Cheese" book.

This was a pretty tasty recipe, and I really liked the addition of the onion and red pepper sauté to the shrimp and bacon. The shrimp were marinated for a few hours in a mix of thyme, rosemary and garlic which gives it a lot of flavor, and these grits sure have a better texture than the Quaker ones we were using before. One thing that's a bit wonky is the recipe proportions; it called for only 1/2 cup of grits for 4 servings, but a full pound of medium shrimp. We made the recipe as is and had only just enough grits for 2 but shrimp for 4.

This week has been filled with Flickr meetups for me! First Danielle, then Tina! It was my first time meeting Tina in person but it totally didn't feel like it. We pretty much chatted nonstop except for a small retail fiasco - thank you for being so patient during the book buying mess.

We spent a lovely afternoon hanging out in Williamsburg and all we managed to get photo-wise was a bewb shot and this shaky mess. I guess this must mean we had a great time! ;-)
