Boom Box - Montreal 1987 by Mikey G Ottawa.

Heading north up St. Laurent street, I saw the biggest boom box ever. I had borrowed equipment, unsophisticated beginner technique, a mild spring day and wide open eyes.

At last . . . some photos of my own posted here, from my Montreal days back around the mid-80's.
This gentle soul was just exiting the Adult Cinema and walking on the sidewalk when he noticed these young guys approach. This is just below St. Catherine St. near Rue. St. Laurent ('The Main').
Waited for that golden moment . . .

Great capture, fabulous expressions! We used to have a guy in Vancouver who walked around downtown Vancouver with a boombox this size. He was so classic.. always had on dark glasses and the volume cranked, and always, always played the same song - I've got the power, by Snap. People stared at him in amazement, but he was completely oblivious.

Looking at this . . . I remember the wave of youthful energy striding by as these youths walked purposefully up the road. Perhaps they were feeling self-conscious themselves, surrounded by strip bars, erotic cinemas and peep shows here on 'The Main' at St. Catherine and St. Laurent streets . . . while also keeping their eyes open for any amusement that offered. I was prowling the dark side of Montreal, - looking for action, looking for photo ops.
