I recall when I was a high school student and I drove my Model A over to Lansing. A young man in his 20's was going to wet sand the fenders on his Model A coupe and then wax them and buff them.
Wrong!!! By the time he was finished, he had sanded all four fenders down and had to take them to be repainted. Something about the road to hell being paved with good intentions.
