Skuas (Jaegers) off Kochi, Kerala; February 2008 |
A selection of skuas seen offshore from
Kochi on a voyage to Lakshadweep. 90
skuas were seen in total, of which the
majority were Pomarine. A variety of
ages and plumages were seen. One
photographed bird is a presumed 2nd
winter Arctic Skua (Parasitic Jaeger),
although is unusually pale and opinions
received have suggested either species,
or even Long-tailed Skua. Further
comments are welcome.
