Disneyland's Carousel of Progress
The Audio-Animatronics figures created by Disney in the 1960s are among the best and most life-like. This image, of the boy in the Carousel of Progress show, always causes my jaw to drop. He's veeeery real, and only in close-up shots like this can you detect any artifice. Created almost half a century ago, the work of Walt Disney's talented artisans is still the "state of the art" in my opinion.
Commentsmarc.delle says:I was looking at photo documentation of the
President/AA figures in HOP at WDW this
morning, and they don't come close to the
figure finishing of the posted photo. The
human AA faces need to be "overly
painted" for the show lighting and
distance from the audience in order for them
to "read" and offer and good-show
experience. Though many talented artists
work on the face skins of these characters
and they do a remarkable job, the posted
photo looks wonderful.

I agree...The artisans kicked major Special Effect ass and were way ahead of their times. I wish more of this type of Disney was still around.
