    [Update] I'm noticing that when viewing in chrome this pic doesn't look so hot. Looks fine in firefox and safari. Haven't ever noticed a difference b/w the browsers before but it's very noticeable in this one.

      I heard that yesterday's tower light-up was in honor of Dr John Tate from the Mathematics Department who won the Abel Prize (a big, hairy deal in maths circles). I guess the swimming/diving folks just piggy-backed on his glory :-)

      Edit: Just just realised I'm wrong. Dr Tate's celebration is tonight (Wednesday) so it looks like the aquatics folks got their own orange tower after all.

      Jim, I went on a last-minute tip from a friend (I didn't even realize it was going to be lit up orange) so I didn't even try to contact anyone. I started by the fountain on the east side but there was a big crowd there with the swim team (they were getting their professional photos done with the fountain and tower in the background). That was a madhouse. I took the pic above well away from the crowd -- over by the LBJ library.
