In the early middle ages a fountain which served beer. 1619 Jérome Dusquesnoy made the Mannekin Pis which was put on a 2 meter pedestal made by Daniel Raessens. 1695 Maréchal de Villeroy attacked Brussels and the statue was hidden. When it returned a plate was engraved beneath it saying;" God has put me on a rock and knows that I am stronger than my enemies". Soldiers of Louis XV stole the statue in 1747 and it was found abandoned next to a strip tease establishment. 1817 Antoine Lycas stole the statue again and damged it severely. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for his deed. 1818 the statue was repaired by Godecharle. The adventures continued into the 20century and probably beyond...
