Isodontia elegans

Isodontia elegans by mfophotos.
Most of the sphecid wasps are highly attracted to flowers, since nectar is what provides their fuel. Some flowers are better than others, so members of the carrot family are good ones to have in your garden to attract them.

How do you know each species here? That is very cool to know...sort of like bird watching eh? I don't think I've seen a wasp like that....in your other picture with the black one I did...and beleive those are they ones that attacked and bit my nieghbor....5 times. She kicked their nest while it laid on the ground...suppose she asked for it. This is a very nice image and series. That D70 does you good. Are ya picking black berries yet? My fingers are still stained since last week. Nows the time to fetch them...nice to see you back from your trip....old geezer? Hahaha....

black berries... mmmmm. We had a few in New York. I better get my butt out in the country and find some here.

Well, since I have been an entomologist for 30 years, I guess I know a lot more about bugs than most people!

A Entomologist? Does that involve above or below the waist? I think I need help, Doc.

Alright, back to the black bug...I think she said a hornet now...hmm. Her husband watched the whole thing on the riding tractor and thought she was having a heart attack! His said, that crazy wife of mine. How funny...

Should I collect a couple of these so we have my location in the collection? They aren't as numerous now as they were earlier in the season.
