That Last Step's a Doozy

An odd house in my neighborhood. This is the side that faces the street. As far as I can tell, it's actually a duplex and the entrance is round the other side. Still have no explaination why there's a door to nowhere on the second floor. Taken June 2009.

Looks like a UP-er (MI.'s upper peninsula) house the upper door is for when there's 200" of snow on the ground.
