Ornithology lesson of the day: The coolest thing about owls is that their feathers are specifically designed so that they can fly quietly and sneak up on their prey. I think you'd see merkley coming from a mile away.

Ornithology lesson of the day: Owls can't turn their eyes in their sockets. Their pupils don't get smaller in bright lights. Sometimes if you see them in bright light they have their eyes closed half way This gives them a sleepy appearance, but, they are, in fact, wide awake and they are just reducing the amount oif light hitting the retina.
