      I agree. I am sick of browsing flickr only finding pictures of peoples vacations and themselves in a mirror... AND FLOWERS. I am especially sick of all the flower pictures. Any retard can hunt down a flower and take a picture. Photography is about conceptual art.

      Thanks for all the feedback, everyone.
      I wrote this because I was feeling this way about myself mostly. I don't mean it, exactly.
      I'm glad the image has put so many people on the defensive. But whether you are or aren't really isn't the point.
      I love how there are two main fields of photography; the amateur just showing off something generic and the professional who has an idea, a theme, etc. But the line between the two is so impossibly . . . well, out of focus.
      I like that a lot.

      they focus by holding the lens from the bottom.

      to be honest it all comes down to preference, or how you're comfortable. and the way you focus does not make you a better or worse photographer. but when i see friends i know who do that (and are great photographers) i can't help but think about what my teachers and colleagues used to say in college about the way a pro photographer should focus.
