Photo of the Day Winner, Earth Shots, 4th February 2011
The weather forecast for today's morning sounded very promising -
bright sky with only a few cirrostratus and early high fog. And during
the last week we had a little snowfall. So I expected to find
everything I would need for some beautiful landscape compositions at
the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
I decided to wake up early this morning for photographing the beautiful sandstone rocks with the golden light of a winter sunrise. When I arrived I was looking for a nice scenery. But the windchill factor was below -12°C and it was hard to keep my fingers warm.
Here is an another photograph with the Bastei bridge and Lilienstein mountain in the background. Please enjoy!
Saxon Switzerland is a mountainous climbing area and national park around the Elbe valley south-east of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. Together with the Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic it form the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
