Survey the Scene

A group of us celebrated my friend Ron's completion of the NH 4,000-footers a couple weeks ago. We're admiring the view off toward South Twin, our destination for the day, from the first overlook of the day, just a tad below the summit of North Twin.

There's not much that's more gratifying than hiking up a mountain and emerging to this, knowing that you did it.

Onward and Upward

Gradually, up through the spruce and fir, toward the ridges and peaks. A boreal chickadee greeted us as we climbed, and the wind sighed through the trees, but apart from that, only the sound of our footsteps and breath.

Sublime.
