I did my master's thesis on this crab species [Eriocheir sp.](they are only available for a limited season because they migrate upstream for most of their lives) and I have to applaud you for being brave enough to even order one of these!

Once you have shaken off this gastronomic experience you may be able to enjoy the "Iron Chef: Shanghai Crab" episode.

I only tasted a little bit of it that I managed to extract from one hairy claw. It was a lot of work to get a little white meat, and that meat tasted like plain old crab meat that I've had before. Suprisingly unspecial.
