Just a little mobile image that caught when I was in Barca. Picked a funky look-through kids toy and thought maybe it would work as an adhoc lens. The results is quite funky, no?

Huzzah! Look at this little beauty! Never in my whole life have I seen one of these in the flesh and it just so happened across my balcony in London.

Never would have thought it possible but here the little fellow is in all his glory.

Don't know how he got there (flew of course) but how on earth did this rare insect happen across my urban garden in South West London? Boggles the mind I tell you!

Nevertheless I was very happy to make him my little model for a few shots and then just left him to do whatever he intended to do in my humble little garden.

Further investigation into the species has highlighted the fact that this type of stag beetle is actually threatened. Sad to know and the thought that occurs to me is that this may be the first and last time I will ever see one of these beautiful creatures in real life. Just makes me even more grateful for the moment.
