It's finished!

My massive sampler is finally done, after two years of evenings and weekends full of stitching!

Pattern is called "And a Forest Grew" by Karen Kluba. I bought it from my favorite cross stitch shop, Criss Cross Row. I replaced the quote from the original pattern with the Martin Luther quote seen here.

I have the same one waiting to "be stitched". Hmmmm. It seems a bit daunting. Not sure if I have the energy to start it! You did an amazing job. Now go and get it framed! Wonderful.......

Thanks again to everyone for the praise. It's quite satisfying to have such a large project in my "finished" pile!
I encourage you to start this one--I've now moved on to another project and I'm not finding it nearly as fun. All the individual trees and animals gave a real sense of accomplishment at the end of each stitching session, and it was always easy to find a jumping in point the next time I picked it up. The most frustrating thing about it is having to switch colors so many times for what seems to be little result, but in the end the good outweighs the bad. You should definitely give it a shot!

Would you be horribly offended if I duplicated your quote replacement? My father collects Martin Luther items and this seems an excellent piece to stitch for his new Conservatory!

i love the quote you have used. i have this pattern, and as i'm not religious, i'm going to replace the one on the chart with something else (possibly the one you've used, or maybe something from shakespeare). thanks for the inspiration!

FYI I just posted the progress of my stitching of And a Forest Grew and thought you might like to see it. (Your piece is what inspired me to do it.. I am enjoying it since progress can be seen with each tree or animal completed, but like you stated elsewhere, it is tedious to change threads so often for some of the objects--birds in particular.)

It is beautiful, kwgronau, ;D I have just had a peek ;)
