You get points for a pretty interesting
composition, however when viewed large the
details don't add up to make a good
photograph. There's no appreciable detail in
the water, and the palm tree has both motion
blur and blur from lack of sharp focus.
Additionally, the curve of the tree seems to
touch (or come exceedingly close) to the left
edge of the frame, which is slightly
disconcerting.
Also, it would seem appropriate for this
type of photograph to show some sand or
something to serve as a base for the palm
tree. Or maybe that's just me, these things
are subjective as you know.
Is this an HDR image? If so, I would
suggest trying again at a different time of
day, the long exposures required for what
appears to be a nighttime shot play havoc
with the "little things" that are
required to make this a stellar photograph.
On the other hand, the overall tonality of
this photo is nice, but it alone can't
overcome the focus problems mentioned above.
And for what it's worth, I was wanting to
give this image a higher score.

I like that you tried to do something
different here. However, I have a few
problems with this shot:
1) I would like to either see the tree
anchored to the ground in some way, or for
you to crop out the bottom bit that seems to
be hinting at the ground. As it stands, I
feel like the tree is kind of floating in the
frame, but not in a purposeful kind of way.
2) Nothing is quite sharp in this
photograph. The water isn't sharp, and the
tree isn't sharp. Something needs to be in
focus.
3) What is the big, white splotch in the
middle of the sky? Is that the moon? The eye
is drawn directly to it.
I do really like the blue tones in this
photograph, and the quality of the sky.

nice compostion but i agree about softness
being a problem. love the blues. it seems
evident that you used a flash on the tree
which i think was a mistake. i don't need all
that detail on the tree, it could be very
dark i think and let me gaze out on the water
and sky.

I agree with tanguero - details on the palm
are not welcomed in this composition (as it
is a HDR, that could be from some ambiental
light, not flashlight, but this doesn't
change any - blue is good, and palm could
give a good silhouette, nothing more). That
visible spot is here by some mistake, as I
can see on the largest view - you should
clone it out.

Althought it is lacking detail and seems
blurry all over, I really like the
composition and subject. I guess the
blurryness is coming from the HDR taken with
moving subjects (trees/water).

Although this is a little blurry that in
itself seems to lend a softness to this image
which is pleasing to the eye.It givea an
overall romantic feel to this picture. Rating #9:

That is what I call a bounty picture! Like
the scenery, but it seems as if you used a
flash (?) and i don't like the amount of
light on the palm tree. Because of this light
in total looks mixed up and cis confusing to
me.
