:ODB - "Techarí"

:ODB - "Techarí" by Michael™.
Even if you don't speak Spanish, you should check out this disc.

I have been waiting for what seems like forever for my copy to arive from Spain and it finally did this morning! Ojos de Brujo is one of the most spectacular bands in the world, in my humble opinion of course.

Last year I drove to Chicago just to see them and they certainly lived up to their reputation as being one of the best live bands touring right now.

Although I, uh, obtained a copy of this album on its day of release, there is nothing like having the real thing in my hands, especially with the 80 page special edition booklet that accompanies the CD and bonus CD-ROM. This is by far one of the tightest albums I have ever heard.

Check them out, you won't be sorry!

(Not to mention the fact they run their own label and tour management themselves - any band independent enough to stick it to the major labels has to be doing something right!)

Oh Kelly, please do! I finished the write up after you posted your comment (you're too fast) :)

If you don't mind listening to music in a foreign language and a wide variety of styles mixed into a predominantly flamenco-style framework, you will love these guys!

Oh yes David, real instruments alright, and they tour with a female dancer/singer as well. Lead singer is a female with a wonderful gitana voice and they have several percussionists and guitarists as well as a bass player, a rapper, and a guy that works the turntable/keyboards. This new album also has several guests like the famous guitarist Pepe Habichuela, "Cyber" from Asian Dub Foundation, and many others.

If anyone is interested I can email you a track for you to sample.

Oh...and no, no bassoon. Though i will suggest through email that they hire me for their next album! :)

I'm listening to it right now, it's their best cd, though the 2 previous ones are really fine too.
I saw them live when nobody knew them, back in march of 2000 or so. If you like this kind of music, you should definetely check Macaco, the band of the singer in ODB first album. 5 stars for me, i got the extra deluxe boxset and it is delicious too. :)
