The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - Painting the town pink!

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure - Painting the town pink!

You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give. - Winston Churchill

That being said, I am planning on giving it all I got. Tomorrow is the day.....crack of dawn along the waterfront in downtown West Palm Beach....about 20 thousand will converge along Flagler for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure run. For some bizarre reason, about 5 weeks ago, I thought I would be ready for this race. I mean, its only a 5K, but for someone who hasn't ran for any sort of distance since....aahhhh.......well......highschool, a fraction of a "K" is somewhat of a challenge!

So, for the past few weeks, I started the journey after a little online research and the use of a cool app I found (there truly is an app for everything!) Am I ready?? Well, my lower back is screaming out one thing (pain) and my mind is in override mode calling the shots (as it seems to always do.)

Lets hope my next post isn't created while in traction! Here we go......

BTW, if you want to support me in this race and the cause, hope on over to the blog for a link in the post!

A very pink wedding!.jpg

A very pink wedding!.jpg

"A wedding is just like a funeral except that you get to smell your own flowers." - Grace Hansen

Hahaha.....as I looked for an inspirational quote about weddings, love, or the celebration of it all, that one kinda jumped at me! Love it.....

So, I'm seeing a bit pink these days. Having just finished illuminating an event for breast cancer awareness, the race is on for me to get a couple images processed and ready to post. I hope to get those out later this week, but for now, this will have to do. This one (and a few more) have been waiting in line for their release into the world for some time now. No its not the event we just did, but it is pink indeed!

It's taking a little more time than normal for me to get the current images finished that I am working on. Not sure why actually. I think it might be a cross between the fact that there are several color temperature levels of the lighting fixtures we use as well as the fact my camera sensor looks like I snacked on a piece of toast or 2 over it! Silly amounts of dust spots to clean up.

Stay tuned as always.....more to come!

(Now, where did I leave that toast........)

A trickle of water - Last days of summer in Yosemite

A trickle of water - Last days of summer in Yosemite

“I've learned that everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.” - Unknown

I guess I have been climbing a bit of my own mountain lately. That could be one reason that I haven't been posting as much lately. Only so many precious hours in the day, and as we are now in the season here in South Florida, those hours seemed to get sucked up really fast! Proposals, contracts, designs, schedules, ....... a little overwhelming when the events get stacked up like they do. Can't these folks schedule these events around my personal life schedule. The nerve! (hahaha)

For more about where I tend to spend quite a bit of time creating during these few months, check out www.Hylite.com.

Painting with light as I like to call it.....with toys from the toybox. Love it!

Aaannnyway.....

I was inspired to dig a little more into my archives of Yosemite images I captured whilst bumbling about there this summer (I tend to do that well) after seeing a few posts from Trey Ratcliff from Stuck in Customs from his recent posts. He spent the New Year there with a few other photogs and created some beautiful images as always. (His work truly is AMAZING!) Check it out www.stuckincustoms.com/2012/01/09/the-yosemite-valley/

As far as my journey I was speaking about?

To keep it rather short, it's about my own personal journey to a healthier diet and physical lifestyle. No it's not about a new years resolution, but more of a continued passionate continuation from last year. I find myself spending quite a bit of that special time that is left in the day reading up on, practicing, and creating what is becoming a much healthier lifestyle. I have borrowed a little bit of that time from the allotment I used to give myself to create in this world of photography. In fact, I have achieved some nice results and even plan to run in a 5K race within the next 3 weeks! Perhaps these are all seeds for another blog altogether?

I guess I better find a few more hours in the day ...... or find a better way to balance it all. And the journey continues......

Chasing the light in Yosemite - A reflection in HDR and a wrapup video of images from 2011

Chasing the light in Yosemite - A reflection in HDR and a wrapup video of images from 2011

"Fresh beauty opens one's eyes wherever it is really seen, but the very abundance and completeness of the common beauty that besets our steps prevents its being absorbed and appreciated. It is a good thing, therefore, to make short excursions now and then to the bottom of the sea among dulse and coral, or up among the clouds on mountain-tops, or in balloons, or even to creep like worms into dark holes and caverns underground, not only to learn something of what is going on in those out-of-the-way places, but to see better what the sun sees on our return to common every-day beauty." - John Muir

So, I've been doing a little bit of exploring of sorts. Not the "pith helmet with silly vest and magnifying glass" sort of exploring, but more of a deeper review of what I have been presenting on the blog lately. I'll be happy to report that I am of course no farther along in my search for a new direction to take it, but sort of distracted instead. As I journeyed back thru the year, I realized that I had a few images I really liked and decided to create another Animoto slide show of them.

Here is a link to it! A year in review

As far as the image today? - Yosemite of course (wow, I must get back there to explore during another season!)

As far as the blog direction? - More on that later :)
