i think people like it because it is a rich, colourful, well-composed and well-balanced photo. the lighting is excellent, especially that glow on the painwork on the left wing. the detail and the texture are exceptional. i like the rainbow colours of rust under the paint on the right, and the sense of looking at a solid, real object.

Technically everything is done very well, the focus is tack sharp, the exposure is perfect, and the light is very complimentary. But, I must say the angle is a bit distracting. I really don't want to see a robot face, or an eye, or a metal saber tooth. The dignity of a rusty car is that it still has beauty in it's form over time.

People love rust. I love rust. It never fails to give a sense of timelessness. But I'm not really thrilled by the angle and I don't find it particularly balanced either. I think this would be a keeper if you'd taken one or two steps back and shown just a smidge more of the car. This angle doesn't give it the grace I would expect it deserves.

Lorrie, that is a perfect image. Square crop, Fabulous light and color & rainbow, winky eye, all the lines and shapes... sharp and absolutely classic composition. Isn't it interesting how something aged and distressed can take on near-heroic properties when photoed properly? Of course the original car design adds a lot... really nice one. (love that rhino comment, drp!) agree with all the positive comments above, and the criticism couldn't be more lame and arbitrary. great job.
