Wow, thanks all!
Crea.tive, I can see how you'd ask about
the title. America is known as a 'melting
pot' nation because of the way races and
cultures tend to become blended with time.
That can be a good or bad thing depending on
your point of view, but I'm not making any
kind of social statement with this image.
The title just seemed to fit visually. It's
an odd bit of English...the pot is for
melting; it doesn't itself melt. Hope that
helps.

When I was younger
and lived in a place
that had fall color
and fall meant
what happened to leaves
after a sweltering summer
I used to love going down
to the forests walking miles
and watching what was happening
to the leaves on the ground
how each crunch of my boot
began the amalgamation process
crushing leaf to leaf
the rain would pick up
and turn the whole mess
into rivulets of blood
but somehow most of
the leaves would turn into boats
and float down stream
brightly oblivious to the fact
that they were dying
not at all
but instead going out like sunset
I love that the plural of leaf
Is leaves BIRD
Thanks for your comment on my photo, Lorrie.
I'd say the same of this one - a simple
beauty - but much more so, since you made
your pic and I only found mine! All the best
to you.

Of course we all wish we had done that but we
didn't did we?
That's what flickr is for: to light an
artistic match under our collective
arses/asses. Funny: I always thought is was
cheating to arrainge the leaves. Duh &
Doh!
