This was my first MX-5. Bought new in '98 and it replaced the white Civic. It was traded for the new model MX-5 early 2007.
When I bought it, I added anti lock brakes, a wind deflector, remote keyless entry and alarm and a hardtop. That pushed the sticker a bit upward, but it was worth it. Though it only had a 1.6 liter 110 bhp engine, which really could use some more low end grunt, it was very fun to drive. You had to work throught the gears a lot to keep the pace, but that was the charm and the fun of it. And it zipped around corners. The biggest problem with this car was the quality of the seats. They lacked any support. Because of problems with my back, I didn't drive it that much anymore the last year I had it. When it was ultimately sold with 120.000 k's and at eight years, I got a very good price from my dealer. Within two weeks this lovely MX-5 was sold again.
This picture is taken in the German Black Forest. Black Forest roads are designed for MX-5s. I remember driving down there on the Autobahn at 190 km/h top down!
